Anne Rehkopf Townsend, CFRE has over 20 years of professional fundraising experience.

Before launching her consulting business in 2005, Anne served as the Director of Development of the Brooklyn Historical Society and the National Academy of Design, two NYC based cultural organizations giving her direct experience with major gift strategies, membership programs, capital planning and campaigns, event management and planning, foundation and government grants, direct mail campaigns, board recruitment, and development planning. Working in a small shop, Anne developed the skills needed to manage multiple projects while understanding the best and most effective ways to use her time and engage other staff members and the board in the fundraising efforts of her organizations.

Working with dozens of organizations over the past ten years, Anne has helped her clients raise millions of dollars by helping them put a plan in place and coaching them to execute the plan.

Throughout her career, Anne has consistently volunteered her time in her community. She has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Junior League of Brooklyn, Rebuilding Together, and the Association of Junior Leagues International. She currently serves on the board of the Cobble Hill Tree Fund.

She received a BA in art history from Newcomb College, Tulane University, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).  She loves to cook, explore new cities on foot, visit museums, and read about art and artists.

I am a sole practitioner on purpose.

I LOVE getting to know my clients, developing a relationship, and working with them one on one to help solve issues around fundraising. Helping clients uncover their strengths, teach them how to do the work independently, and then learn to succeed without me is my main goal.

All my clients come through referrals from current and former clients.  Because we develop a relationship, I stay in touch after the work together is complete – checking in periodically, celebrating successes, and listening to challenges as they arise.

Each client is unique, and each project is unique. We work together to create the best scope to address your needs. I establish fees for services based on an agreed-upon scope of work and timeframe for accomplishing objectives. Rates are set at an hourly fee, reflective of the time and staffing needs of the project. I do not take a percentage of funds raised or a commission for services, consistent with the code of ethics of the American Association of Fund Raising Professionals. Additional expenses beyond consulting fees include: clerical support, telephone, travel, postage, printing and are determined beforehand so that a client can estimate what may be incurred.
